Ian Smith is has over 30 years of experience in domestic (Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin) and international venues (over 40 countries) on both operational and project perspectives. Ian began his career at Canadian Occidental Petroleum Ltd., followed by Encor Inc. and PanCanadian Petroleum. Ian specializes in the complete integration of core/core and core/log data, and the correlation of near wellbore log evaluations incorporating models through “deterministic” and “probabilistic” processes. Special areas of interest include unconventional hydrocarbon systems, integrated reservoir description and reservoir characterization studies. Over the last 7 years, Ian’s major focus has been working on “sub-normally water saturated” reservoirs in the WCSB.
